Ich Disease
Ich disease or white spot disease is a lethal infection caused by the protozoan parasite Ichthyophthirius multifilis which can kill freshwater and marine fish in large number.
Indeed, Ich disease is a skin disease that infects countless numbers of tropical fish and other types of fish all over the world.
Believe it or not, stress is considered to be one of the factors that cause some fish to be more susceptible to Ich disease.
In order to prevent Ich disease from spreading in a new protected area, you need to maintain the water temperature to at least 68 degrees Fahrenheit for a week.
It is also important to note that even though this increased in water temperature can shorten the life cycle of some disease-causing organisms, it will also decrease the dissolved oxygen levels of the water. Regardless, Ich disease outbreaks will still occur unless you pay attention to the quality of water for your fish and be sure to treat it fast before it is too late for your fish.
